Norm Boersma is the new chief investment officer of Templeton Global Equity Group [profile], the parent firm of the Franklin, Templeton and Mutual Shares fund series, reports Morningstar. 

He will fill the post left vacant by last month's unexpected death of Gary Motyl, Templeton's previous CIO, which was first reported in MFWire.

Boersma, who worked with Motyl for about 20 years, will still be the president of Templeton Global Advisors Limited. 

Other changes at the firm include the assignment of Cindy Sweeting as the president of Templeton Investment Counsel. She will also retain her position as director of portfolio management. 

Sweeting and Antonio Docal will PM the American Beacon International Equity fund, which Motyl helped run before his passing. The firm is a subadvisor on the fund, along with Causeway Capital Management and Lazard Asset Management.
