Stories of an iShares fee raise have been greatly exaggerated.

Some news outlets had reported that BlackRock's iShares [profile] will raise fees on 40 ETFS. However, a spokeswoman told Benzinga on New Year's Eve that this was far from the truth.

Reports earlier stated that iShares would raise fees on some of its popular global ETS such as iShares MSCI Emerging Markets Index Fund.

The company's spokeswoman also said the firm will not lower the fees on iShares MSCI Global Minimum Volatility Index Fund, iShares MSCI Emerging Markets Consumer Discretionary Fund, and iShares MSCI Emerging Markets Energy Capped Fund which was also previosly reported.
