Ladies and Gentleman, Michael Mauboussin has left the building.

Legg Mason Capital's [profile]chief investment strategist departed the firm on January 2 to pursue other opportunities, according to Morningstar.

According to M*, these “other opportunities” include serving as chairman of the board of trustees of the Santa Fe Institute and promoting his newest book, The Success Equation.

The article notes that since joining Legg Mason 2004, Mauboussin was responsible for building out the firm's research team and process. According to the company, there are no plans to replace him as of present.
