There's pretty much nowhere you can't go-- if you know how to bring the flows.
That's one big message that recruiter
Derek Braddock has for talented sales and distribution folk as well as PMs in a number of hot investment categories.
"Most every firm we know out there is looking to replace assets or grow, and that has been consistent throughout the ups and down turns of the past couple of years. We are going to continue to see people work on this," Braddock told
MFWire today.
Braddock and his colleagues
unveiled yesterday their executive search firm
BraddockMatthews, based both in New York and Boston-- two major fund towns.
He's confident the new firm will do well because he sees a mushrooming demand for talented distribution staff of all types, as well as people with talent in emerging market and alternative portfolios.
"On the investment side, we're still continuing to see more activity in the emerging market space. We are also seeing firms build up their liquid alternative solutions. Some of these alternative firms up to this point hadn't really had an alternative solution. either they have never built that or they re trying to do that. That will continue to be an active space," he said.
Marketing and investment are two big focuses for Braddock and his colleagues, but they also cover all senior level hires, including risk, across a variety of client types: including traditional asset management firms; hedge funds; private equity; investment banking, endowments; foundations and family offices.
With regards to distribution hires, he said the appetite runs the gamut. There are a number of firms still focusing on institutional clients, and so are seeking experience talent to cater to this demographic, while others are looking to reach out to intermediaries and platforms or advisors.
"The top firms are always looking for top talent wherever they may be," he said.
