Steven Miyao reports that managed portfolios of ETFs have grown more than 300 percent since the end of 2009, to $56.6 billion. He describes this young asset management niche as a threat to mutual funds' asset allocation offerings, particularly those full of active mutual funds.
"ETF managed portfolios will continue to generate assets and fund firms will need to carefully consider their participation in this market," Miyao wrote.
