An ex fundster bigwig and a trade group chief are calling for more regulation for alternative mutual funds.
In a guest column in the
Financial Times, former MFS chairman
Bob Pozen and
NICSA president
Theresa Hamacher suggested new labeling requirements for alternative mutual funds, more marketing restrictions, and possibly other new regulation.
"A new model for fund regulation is needed to ensure that product innovation is consistent with investor protection," the duo conclude.
Hamacher and Pozen previously collaborated on
The Fund Industry, a deep dive book about the business.
