Morningstar breaks down the pros and cons of commission-free ETF trading programs offered by TD Ameritrade Charles Schwab, Merrill Lynch, Vanguard and others. Though commission-free trades are attractive to investors, they're less worthwhile if the funds are high-cost, ETF analyst Timothy Strauts says.

Fidelity increased its number of iShares [profile] ETFs for commission free trading to 65 from 30 and TD Ameritrade gets points for diversity with ETF from eight different ETF providers. Charles Schwab boasts an intensive and globally diverse portfolio.
