The alternatives road to '40 Act Country is luring more frontiersmen.
Four veteran fundsters,
Robert Steele,
Scott Wennerholm,
Mark Bentley and
Brian Schreiner, are hard at work building up the
ALTS Investment Group
According to the company's website, the firm is "focused on helping emerging managers who specialize in liquid alternative strategies gain access to the largest pools of investor money: wealth advisors. We will provide dedicated marketing and shared operations to an exclusive set of managers and share in our success through mutual ownership."
In the words of Wnnerholm on his Linkedin page, the firm is "a multi-boutique asset management company focused on developing and distributing liquid alternative investment products." The excess are "actively seeking to obtain majority stake in established liquid alternatives managers. Currently developing strategy, building infrastructure and negotiating outside investment capital."
Steele is chief executive of the firm. Previously co-founder and president of
Bishop Asset Management, Steele worked at
Rydex Investments, where he was a founding executive and ultimately served as executive vice president responsible for product development, sales, marketing and business development.

Wennerholm, meanwhile, is chief operating officer. He previously had the same title at
BNY Mellon Asset Management. His responsibilities there included shared operations, compliance and risk management oversight, technology development, and operations strategy. Before that, he was COO for Chief Operating Officer for
CDC Ixis Asset Management Advisors Group, the distribution arm for this multi-manager firm (now known as
Natixis).
Bentley is chief distribution officer. Previously he was senior vice president, Head of Intermediary Distribution for
Old Mutual Asset Management. He had also served as managing director, National Sales Manager at
Rydex, and before that was vice president and regional sales manager for
Dreyfus Service Corporation and vice president of Bank Sales at
The Boston Company.
Brian Schreiner is executive vice president, having also served as chief compliance officer and chief operations officer at
Schreiner Capital Management, Inc.
