What happens when you host a press conference after most reporters go home for the day? Expect a lot of crickets.

That's what Vanguard did last week. CEO Bill McNabb and CIO Tim Buckley hosted a live webcast titled A Look Ahead to 2014 at 7 p.m. on Thursday, January 9th.

According to the invite, the celebrated event of orchestrated thought leadership and mutual fund pontifications featured insights on "the global and domestic economies and the world's financial markets," according to the email invite to the event.

How many media professionals covered this event? As far as we can tell, only one. Janet Levaux of ThinkAdvisor did a rather excellent writeup of the webcast.
