El-Erian's departure, unfortunately, is one of those rare moments when Mohamed El-Erian gets more press than that peacock Bill Gross. El-Erian was supposed to be Gross' heir apparent, but instead announced his resignation after serving six years as the firm's designated adult. Perhaps it was inevitable.
