Well, it's no secret now that
Pimco has had a rough year, with record redemptions along with
tensions between co-founder Bill Gross and departing CEO Mohamed El-Erian, which recently got
even more tense.
Can a push into equities help the troubled bond-house put this bad year behind it? A
Financial Times article suggests that the Gross et al are betting on such a move.
This would jive with
recent comments made by new equities head Virginie Maissonneuve about her vision for the future of the business.
However, Pimco's previous equities pushes
have been problematic, with previous equities head
Neel Kaskari leaving in
January 2013.
Let's see whether equities do the trick this time around.
