The 56th ICI GMM Begins

Paul Schott Stevens and his team are about to kick off the 2014 ICI GMM (Investment Company Institute General Membership Meeting).

The giant conference, this year at the Washington Hilton in Washington, D.C., begins this afternoon with remarks from Marie Chandoha (chair of the GMM planning committee and president and CEO of Charles Schwab Investment Management [profile]), Stevens himself (president and CEO of ICI) and Larry Fink (chairman and CEO of BlackRock [profile]). Other key speakers this week will include:

  • Edward Bernard, vice chairman at T. Rowe Price [profile];
  • Tony Blair, former Prime Minister of Great Britain;
  • Jack Brennan, chairman emeritus of Vanguard [profile];
  • Tim Buckley, chief investment officer at Vanguard;
  • John Casey, chairman of Casey, Quirk & Associates;
  • Peng Wah Choy, CEO of Harvest Global Investments Limited;
  • Bernard Clark, executive vice president of advisor services at Charles Schwab Investment Management;
  • Dana Emery, president and CEO of Dodge and Cox [profile];
  • Marty Flanagan, president and CEO of Invesco [profile];
  • Daria Foster, managing partner at Lord Abbett [profile];
  • George Gatch, CEO of global funds management at J.P. Morgan Asset Management [profile];
  • Martin Gilbert, CEO of Aberdeen Asset Management [profile];
  • Bill Glavin, chairman and CEO of OppenheimerFunds [profile];
  • Greg Johnson, president and CEO of Franklin Resources [profile];
  • Robert Keith, executive managing director and head of the global client group at AllianceBernstein [profile];

    Entertainment will include a cook-off tonight featuring chefs Geoff Tracy, Mike Isabella and Pati Jinich and a performance tomorrow night by the touring cast of the Million Dollar Quartet musical.
