Bisys is adding to its senior executive ranks. The firm has divided
Bill Tomko's duties and hired
James L. Fox as its new president for its Fund Service group. Fox reports to Tomko, who had been president of the Fund Service group since 1999. Tomko retains his duties as president of Bisys Investment Services.
Going forward, Tomko explained that he would focus on retirement plan servicing, hedge fund and private equity fund servicing, and mutual fund servicing. Fox, meanwhile, will be focused on mutual fund servicing.
"We elected to complement our extremely strong management team with a divisional president to provide specific focus on our mutual fund services business. The addition of this executive position will enable me to focus on growing each of our investment services businesses," Tomko explained.
Fox is a long-time industry veteran, having held senior posts at both First Data and PFPC. He was most recently the president and CEO of
govONE Solutions, a subsidiary of First Data focused on payment processing software and professional services for the government services. That job marked his second stint First Data. Until 1998 he was president of First Data Distribution Management Services. He then joined PFPC Worldwide as vice chairman for a short stay after First Data sold the unit to PFPC.
He left PFPC to become chief financial officer of Gomez Advisors not long after the sale of the unit was completed.
