BNY Taps New Asset Management Head

by: Ki Kim

The Bank of New York has hired Steven Pisarkiewicz as executive vice president and head of BNY Asset Management. He will start May 19 and report to Thomas A. Renyi, chairman and CEO, according to a prepared release.

Pisarkiewicz is making the move over from AllianceBernstein, where he was CIO of structured equity services, and senior portfolio manager and member of the Investment Policy Group for value equities. In previous roles, he served as managing director for Bernstein's private client and institutional asset management units.

"Steve's proven investment product and portfolio management expertise will be invaluable as we continue to broaden our product offerings and grow this core business," Renyi said in the release.

Also, the Bank has named James Vincent, formerly of GE Capital Corp.'s Real Estate Group, as president of BNY Asset Solutions. At GE Capital, Vincent was a senior vice president and managing director.

The Bank's asset management group offers a range of equity, fixed-income and alternative investment products. The firm reports more than $76 billion in assets under management.

The Pisarkiewicz hire coincides with the planned May 31 retirement of the Bank's Senior Executive Vice President for Asset Management and Private Client Services, Newton P.S. Merrill. The current head of Private Client Services, Lee C. Wortham, executive vice president, will also report to Renyi. Kevin Bannon, executive vice president, continues as CIO, and will report to Pisarkiewicz.
