Tookes, a professor of finance at the Yale School of Management, was elected to the board of directors for Chicago-based Ariel.

New Hire: Ben Phillips

Phillips joined New York City-based Active Weighting Advisors as chief investment officer after PMing at Goldman Sachs Asset Management. Active Weighting Advisors is developing an ETF family under the EventShares brand.

New Hire: Eric Bennett

Dallas-based Impact Shares welcomed Bennett to the team.

Company: DoubleLine Capital

New Hire: Joel Pena

Pena joined LA-based DoubleLine as head of institutional and intermediary investor relations in Latin America and the Caribbean. He previously worked at Robeco.

Company: Russell Investments

New Hire: Michelle Seitz

Seitz joined Seattle-based Russell as CEO, succeeding Len Brennan. She will add the title of chairman at the beginning of the new year.

Company: Voya Investment Management

New Hire: Dina Santoro

Santoro joined New York-based Voya as managing director and head of product and marketing strategy. She previously led product strategy and distribution at Pru unit QMA.

Company: Wasatch Advisors

Retiring: Jeff Cardon

Cardon will retire from Salt Lake City-based Wasatch on December 31.

Promoted: Jim Crowley

On August 30 Pershing CEO Lisa Dolly promoted Crowley to chief operating officer of the BNY Mellon unit.
