Greg Johnson and his team are continuing to expand their presence in their hometown.
Today architect and general contractor Devcon Construction will break ground on a pair of new buildings at
Franklin Templeton's headquarters campus in San Mateo, California, the
San Francisco Business Times reports. The two new buildings, both four stories tall and 122,600 square feet each, will increase the size of the Franklin HQ by 43 percent to 813,683 square feet in total.
The project is expected to take about two years to complete. Instead of keeping all the new office space for itself, Franklin plans to lease out one or more the office buildings, a company spokesman tells the paper.
Franklin Resources, after being founded by Rupert H. Johnson, Sr. (Greg Johnson's grandfather) in New York in 1947,
moved to San Mateo in 1973 thanks to the acquisition of local firm Winfield & Company.
