Perhaps
Abby Johnson can come to the rescue of a manufacturer recently smote by the SEC.
| Abigail Pierrepont Johnson FMR LLC (dba Fidelity Investments) Chairman, CEO | |
The
Wall Street Journal muses that Johnson, CEO of
Fidelity Investments [
profile] (and its largest shareholder), could be "a good fit" for becoming the next chair of
Tesla, as Fidelity "is a longtime Tesla investor." Yet the paper notes that Johnson "recently said her job requires her full attention."
On Saturday Tesla's high profile chairman and CEO,
Elon Musk,
settled with the SEC over fraud charges regarding his tweeting about the company. As part of the settlement, Musk agreed to step down as chairman, so the Tesla investors and board need to find a replacement.
The
WSJ muses about a number of possible new Tesla chairs in addition to Johnson, including: famed investor Warren Buffett, former Ford CEO Alan Mulally, outgoing Pepsi CEO Indra Nooyi, and Starbucks chief Howard Schultz. And the paper shares some quotes from Johnson about running companies.
"The right chairman is someone who can balance the bravado with the cold, hard truth that Elon Musk can't save the world alone," the paper writes.
