The folks at the insurer parent of an ETF provider are offering more updates about the effects of a summer cybersecurity incident.
The
Allianz Life Insurance Company of North America (parent of Allianz Investment Management) notified the
Texas Attorney General's Office on October 2 and the
Office of the Attorney General in California on October 1 about updates related to a recent data breach incident. Those updates including information about the data breach affecting 115,898 Texas residents. Also, other updates provided include the information that was affected by the data breach, which includes name of individual, address, SSN information, and date of birth.
Alexander Sand, attorney at
Eversheds Sutherland, did not immediately return a phone call and an email for comment.
When inquiring about updates concerning the data breach effects on Allianz Life's ETF business from the firm’s AllianzIM, an Allianz spokesperson writes to
MFWire: "We have no additional comment" to add to what was
previously provided to MFWire concerning this data breach.
As previously reported, the Allianz Life data breach occurred on July 16 and was discovered on July 17. The breach potentially affected about 1.5 million people (including customers, financial advisors, and Allianz Life employees).
