Pioneer Investment Management has hired Ibbotson Associates to create three asset allocation funds composed of Pioneer funds.

Ibbotson will adjust equity allocations in the three funds from 60 percent in the least aggressive fund to 90 percent in the most aggressive fund. The analytical firm will choose from Pioneer funds in asset classes including U.S. stocks, international stocks, bonds, and cash.

Pioneer, technically the subadvisor of the funds, will distribute and market the funds to their "standard broker-dealer channels," said spokeswoman Tara Pescatore. Investors with individual retirement accounts will be among the groups targeted.

Ibbotson will take care of the day-to-day management of the fund.
