Although BlackRock's acquisition of State Street Research & Management is not expected to close until the first quarter of 2005, changes are already afoot.

SSRM has filed to close and liquidate four institutional funds.

A SSRM spokeswoman did not immediately return a call seeking comment.
The funds -- Institutional Core Fixed Income, Core Plus Fixed Income, Large Cap Growth and Large Cap Analyst -- have approximately $115 million in assets.

SSRM will close the funds to investors on October 8, and expect to liquidate the funds by January 14.
