Putnam Investments [
profile] of all places, a mutual fund company that is part of the empire of Canadian company
Power Financial.
Teen employment in the area has fallen, with 50 percent of teens working a decade ago compared to 27 percent last year. There is a reason Putnam was the target of teen rage, however. The Youth Jobs Coalition wanted to start a partnership with the company to create a summer jobs program but Putnam declined, Overhholt writes.
Overholt interviewed a spokesman for
Putnam, who said the firm does not have any meaningful opportunities for part-time summer work, and added that the firm has done plenty of charitable efforts locally.
